What to see, where to go, and where to eat in Savannah, GA

Fun Things to Do When Camping in Savannah, GA

While most of the time I am wandering the great PNW, sometimes I get on a longer trip and see someplace really new, like Savannah, Georgia. I wound up down that way for a week this winter and thought I’d pass along some of my discoveries that you might like.

Typical Savannah, GA Weather

Summers get hot and humid here. Highs often hit 90°F or more, with rain on about 10 days in peak months like July and August. Thunderstorms roll through fast, so a quick tarp over your site keeps things dry.

Winters stay mild compared to northern spots. Temps rarely drop below freezing, and snow almost never happens. You get plenty of sunny days for exploring.

Spring and fall bring the best camping weather. March through May and September through November offer comfortable highs in the 70s and 80s with lower humidity. These months pack in tourists, so book spots early.

Pack layers, strong bug spray, and rain gear no matter the season. Don’t let a little rain stop you—there’s plenty of sunshine for outdoor fun!
